In the leafy suburbs of Glasgow’s Southside, Sherbrooke is a late 19th century baronial-style mansion turned luxury Scottish castle hotel.
You have a choice here between what they refer to as Executive Rooms, and Junior Suites here, with the Executive Rooms to be found in the castle itself and in a separate building in the gardens.
Drop them a note on the booking page to request one over the other.
You’ll probably, like us, prefer to stay in the castle itself, though the garden rooms have the advantage of being much quieter.
All rooms and suites are high-level luxury hotel rooms but, apart from a few details, they do lack historical flavour.
The bathrooms are a highlight across the board, with heated floors, rainfall showers, and deep soaking bathtubs in most. Luxury toiletries, including Scottish-made bath products, are provided.
Sherbrooke Castle’s restaurant, the Morrison Room, is one of Glasgow’s best we’d say, and has a menu that nicely showcases seasonal Scottish ingredients.
It’s unabashed fine dining in a sophisticated dining hall, but at quite reasonable prices.
The breakfast is well praised, with a choice of à la carte alongside a giant buffet spread that includes fruits, pastries, and a selection of locally sourced fresh meats and cheeses.
