Known in the U.K. as one of the chateaux from the Channel 4 series – Escape to the Chateau DIY, Chateau Lalande is a very charming property dating back to the 15th century that has been tastefully, carefully renovated by its – now TV famous – owners.
It is a family home with some very lovely, old-style chic, guest rooms, and you can expect a warm welcome and an informal familial atmosphere.
THE ACCOMMODATION:
Note: There is a minimum stay of two nights.
The accommodation ranges from singles, twins and double rooms to more extensive suites and self-catering apartments – one one-bedroom apt. and one studio. Their family suite being the largest which can sleep up to four.

All are tremendously well decorated and furnished and wouldn’t look at all out of place in a period movie. They are also spacious and comfortable and have plenty of modern home comforts, just no TVs to spoil the historic atmosphere.
You’ll be treated to a very fine breakfast in the morning, with lots to choose from – fresh baguettes, pastries and croissants, an array of French cheeses, cereals, yogurts etc., and made-to-order egg dishes.
This is included in the room rate except for those in the self-catering units who can also enjoy it for a surcharge. On Friday and Saturday evenings guests (for a fee) can join their regular three-course dinners which have varying menus and plenty of wine. The food, and the wine are excellent by all accounts.
On other evenings you can order snacks – bread and cheese etc. plus wine, and the family can also provide picnic hampers when given a little notice.
The 60 lovely acres of land, which includes a small farm and a lake, surrounding the chateau are perfect for picnics and just aimless wandering in the peace of nature.

REVIEWS:
“The most relaxing, enjoyable break we have had in quite a while. Stephanie is a fantastic host. The Breakfast was excellent as were the evening meals. The holiday was very informal and we were made to feel like friends rather then guests. The chateau is a beautiful building and stylish in the way it has been renovated and decorated….”
“A fantastic enchanting place too good to miss. It was an amazing experience from when we arrived late in the evening until we left. We were presented with a fabulous 3 course meal with wine, the food was fabulous and their company was excellent. Percy spotted us looking around the next day and gave us a guided tour which we loved and shared all the places that I had seen on Escape to the Chateau DIY. He had no problem giving his time and Stephanie was happy to stop and chat, even though the film crew had just landed. They were really friendly and so approachable. Nobody was in a rush and gave their time willingly. It’s hard to put into words what a great team they all make. This is a must stay for me and I’m so glad I made the journey…..”
