Château de Bourron is a classy, boutique chateau hotel in Fontainebleau, near Paris. It has a moat, two small pavillons, 100-acre of wood and parkland, and has a history going back to at least the fourteenth century.
The Accommodation:
They have five entry-level double rooms in an adjacent building, Maison d’Artagnan, then some nicer rooms in the chateau itself, the latter being divided into superior, prestige, and deluxe categories with the deluxe being the largest and most expensive.
It’s worth the extra to stay in the chateau itself we think, unless maybe you’re staying as a group or family and rent out all five bedrooms at Maison d’Artagnan, so you can have it to yourselves.
Beyond that all categories of room, particularly in the chateau itself, are really very lovely. They are beautifully decorated in period style, with high-end fabrics, antique furniture and modern conveniences.
Then there are two cosy one bedroom self catering units converted from the chateau’s old pavillons. Equally stylish, they come with a small lounge area and kitchenette.
You can take a look at all your room options now, here on the booking page.
Facilities & Things to Do:
There are 100 acres of grounds encompass grass and woodland around the chateau which joins onto the forest of Fontainebleau.
Guests are free to wander the grounds and the woods and you can also arrange guided nature walks, where you can discover some of the estate’s secret corners such as the ancient spring the “source Saint-Sévère”, and the hidden statues of Céres and Saint-Joseph.
Bikes are available for hire. There is a clay tennis court on the estate too and a small children’s play area.
There is no spa centre here but you can order from a range of in-room massages.
Château de Bourron does not have a restaurant of its own, but it does have a close relationship with Les Prémices, a very well respected restaurant within walking distance, actually in the estate’s old stable yard.
